A long long time ago, a man and a woman met and fell so deeply in love with one another and they decided to get married. But then the Groom had to go away to a far far away country to go prepare before finally coming back to possess His lovely bride. As they lived far away from each other, the groom wrote many letters to his bride to express his undying love for her and encourage her to remember all he’s done for her and stay true until his triumphant return, through the letters they grew in their love for each other. Infact the groom wrote her 66 letters in all!! As his final and 66th letter before His return was the last letter, he made it extra special.
In the last and 66th letter, the Groom described to His bride all the plans about his coming and their wedding. He gave her all the clues about the time he was going to show up and how he was going to get there. The Groom being a man of detail, He told her all the juicy details about the wedding program reception and even the honeymoon plans so she would be ready packed and prepared. In summary, he needed the Bride to be well prepared for his arrival so that as soon as he got there, they will get married and be united as husband and wife. The Groom could not wait to come quickly enough and He hoped that the Bride could also not wait long enough as He believed she was very excited and filled with anticipation about getting married to her Groom. Was she?
In the letter, the Groom also warned the Bride of the cunning One who did not want to see them married and happy and cautioned her not to be deceived but hold on fast to his promise. Infact the Groom told her all the plans of the cunning One and how he wanted to spoil the whole wedding party and ruin it!
The Groom as usual expected that, when His Bride received and read the last love letter, she was going to be equally excited and would not stop thinking about Him and getting married to him. As He had made that letter special with much sweet words and all the final juicy details, that she would read it repeatedly and probably memorise it. Well would she? He believed that after reading the letter she would grow more anxious by each passing day as she waited for her Groom to arrive for the wedding day. He believed that she would even day dream about how beautiful life would be when they were finally together after all these years. He hoped that she would not do anything else but think about getting prepared and getting ready by looking lovely and very beautiful when He, the Groom arrived. He also hoped and prayed that after reading the letter she would not be deceived and seduced to fall to the tricks of the cunning One. Well would She?
The Bride of the story supposed to be preparing and getting ready for her marriage is the Church of the world today. The Groom is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The final spectacular love letter of the story is the last book of the bible, the Revelation (in French: The Apocalypse) by John the Apostle. Out of deep love for His Church, Jesus Christ through The Book of Revelation informs us of His soon second coming.
Jesus Christ through The Book of Revelations also cautions the church to beware of the evil one’s deception. The evil one came to steal, kill and destroy so it is very important for the church to know what he stands for. This knowledge and trusting and obeying the Father will help us avoid falling into the pitfalls, falsehood and deception of the enemy. Dearly Beloved in Christ, we need to be reminded that improper preparation deviates from His will and this will cause us to miss the wedding when Jesus Christ arrives for the second time on earth. Though all were Christian, five were wise, and five were foolish (Matthew 25:1-13).
What is the church doing today? Are we paying due attention to study of The Book of Revelation? Are the church members being fed the right food (Word of God) at the appropriate time?
“42 And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 44 Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. 45 But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, 46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47 And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more. (Matthew 12:42-48)”
There’s the right food to be given to the body of Christ in due season.
